When Sussex Police were in the village last week more information was offered to residents about the Community Speedwatch scheme.

Bay Life understands that the scheme is being set up to cover Westham, Pevensey and Pevensey Bay, information that was confirmed in a post by Sussex Police thanking volunteers that opened the doors at St. Wilfrid’s Church Hall.

We understand that a local resident has been working with the police to get this set up, which apparently is now becoming a common way seen in other local rural communities.

Steve O’Connell from Sussex Police is the organiser and he has the equipment. We understand that he has done the risk assessments and is organising training for volunteers.

Information is reaching us this morning (18 February) that the first part of the training has to be undertaken on line.

Apparently the formal training is on 25 February at St Luke’s Church Hall, Stone Cross from 10.30 to 1:00pm.

Information offered to us this morning suggests, “more people are welcome to join and they can contact Steve at: or on 07773 486265″.

We understand that the Parish Clerk for Pevensey Parish Council has also been informed of these developments.
