We are in favour of having the Market Traders in Pevensey Bay.
We miss going to the market for our meat and vegetables etc each week and know that many people feel the same way.
It must be impressed upon the traders that they must respect our area and leave it all neat and tidy after use.
A lot of our local shops have been lost over the years and having the market for people to look forward to, will bring the bay back to life.
So we say "WELCOME TRADERS!!

Well done for the apology!
My partner and i have had many nice times in the friendly Beach Tavern. Once my partner was visibly upset and Stephan gave her a caring moment.
They are lovely people and were lovely staff. I wish the best to them all and will miss the Tavern (Just not the same without them!).... In addition i would like to add that we were in a position several years ago where we lost our home to the creditors .....things do get better.
All the best

I will leave other people to decide if the credit given to Stephan and Sonia at the end of the article is naive.

The boat mentioned in the article is the Information Centre in the Bay. The building is in the shape of an upturned boat. It won an award for its design in the year 2000.

Many other villages and small coastal resorts of a similar size have literature in the shops that is a kind of welcome leaflet for people to take home (and they do). The shops and services club together to see that something professional is produced. It is exactly what we need for Pevensey Bay.

One of the key purposes behind Bay Life is to support business activity in the area, and to promote the Bay. All the public houses, restaurants, shops and services and every single other business aiming to attract customers to the Bay is in the same boat (obviously).

The point being made is that Pevensey Bay has some unique features which should be more widely recognised and promoted and that such activity could be shared and co-ordinated.

These are acutely difficult times. There is very little evidence of any description that the demographics of the Bay have changed in the last three years or that a misunderstanding of those demographics was behind the failure of the tenancy at the Beach Tavern. What precisely is the point being made?

What has changed over the last three years is the economic circumstances both locally and nationally (obviously).

Those of us in business experience it every day of our lives, as did Stephan, as he publicly and honestly acknowledged following the closure of the Beach Tavern.

I am sure that the advice to any potential leaseholder of the Beach Tavern that they should buy a decent calculator will be of immense value.

" The books have already been balanced and there should be credit given where it is due. Between them, Stephan and Sonia Ritchie have brought a wealth of positive benefit to the Bay", rather a naive eulogy, wisely they paid their staff. I would advise any potential leaseholders to buy a decent calculator, Stephan gave it a good try, but the demographics of this area cannot sustain such a business (obviously), I must admit that this is the first time that I have read this thread, just wondered if you really were serious when you wrote "At the end of the day, we are all in the same award winning information boat when it comes to business profiling", try saying that to the next person you meet, I've personally never seen an award winning information boat myself, what did it win the award for?

The statement by Stephan, seeking a retraction of some of the points made in the original article appeared via the pevensey-bay.com Facebook page a few days ago.

In spite of searching to find the statement again, so that we can publish his full response, we have been unable to locate it. We are making the assumption that the statement has been removed, although we are not clear why this would have been the case.

The points made in the statement (from memory), were answered, and a full retraction given over all the specific points that he made.

If the statement is put back up again, we will, as promised, give Stephan an opportunity to have his full unedited say, and we will carry his statement verbatim.

We are waiting to see if this happens. Because of the sensitivity of the situation, and his own situation, we are simply waiting until he makes known what he wants said and how he wants to say it.

He will be given the opportunity to make the statement in any way that he chooses and it will be published in full.

If the statement does not become available, we will then make our own approach to Stephan to give him the opportunity to say whatever he wants to say.

We will provide him with the space to make that full statement, and again, anything that he wants to say, will be published in full.

I am very please that you have offered this apology I read your original article last Wednesday and must admit to being extremely angry about what you had written, your article appeared more interested in kicking someone when they were down rather than producing a fair article. Everyone who I showed the article to agreed with me.
You have gone some way to redressing the damage you did with your earlier article and I hope in future your articles will at least be a fair and reasonable reflection of fact and not of hearsay.
