A Sussex Downs College Hairdressing student makes it through to the live round of the WorldSkills Competition on Wednesday 2 July

Kez Trainer, a Level 3 Hairdressing student at Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne, has been turning heads with her creative styling.

The aspiring hairdresser is through to the live round of the WorldSkills Competition in July, where she will go up against other finalists in a four and a half hour hairdressing challenge.

Kez will have to recreate the style that saw her through the first round of the competition, as well as styling long hair into a high fashioned look.

The pressure is on for the live round, with the hairdressers styling under judges’ watchful eyes and to a deadline.

For the first round, Kez had to submit photographs displaying creative skills and techniques used on a training head. Kez’s red-headed short style won the judges over.

Red hair is definitely having a moment, with fashion forecasters ditching the ‘seasonal rules’ to make red hair a year round trend.

At Trevor Sorbie Brighton, a recent masterclass saw stylist Anna Chapman, fresh from Fashion Month, report back that red hair is very big news right now.

Emma Stone may have ditched the red hue for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but she was back to red for the New York premiere.

Other stars including Christina Hendricks and Jayma Mays are leading the way in the style books. For student Kez Trainer, her flair for on-trend styles has put her on the path to success.
