Cancellation, Hustings Event Priory Court Hotel, Pevensey, General Election 2017
“Let Bexhill and Battle Recommence”
Constituency, Bexhill and Battle
Wednesday 31 May 6:30pm—9:30pm
This note is to explain that sadly, the hustings event planned to take place at the Priory Court Hotel, Pevensey on Wednesday 31 May, has had to be cancelled at short notice. The circumstances are somewhat beyond our control.
It has proved to not be possible to bring all the candidates in the Bexhill and Battle constituency together for the evening, and in the circumstances it seemed inappropriate for a debate of this kind to take place so close to the Election, and so important for the constituency of Bexhill and Battle, particularly given the fact that on that day planned, we will be just 8 days from what is proving to be a highly contentious Election.
All the candidates who were due to take part in the major hustings event have been contacted.
All ticket holders are now being contacted to explain that sadly the event will now not take place.
I appreciate given the demands on all the candidates with hustings events that it has not been possible to support every hustings event for the constituency.
I apologise also to all the ticket holders and people who have expressed interest in coming to the keynote event, based largely on the fact that in the 2015 Election, that so many people enjoyed was what an evening of spectacular debate, chaired by George Pitcher, the ex personal envoy to the Archbishop of Canterbury.
I am sorry that it has not been possible to put on this event, as I know that a number of people were looking forward to being there at the hustings.
