Plans to regenerate Pevensey Bay for both residents and visitors are about to take a first tentative step forward this week as local community group, Incredible Edible, Westham and Pevensey releases a sneak preview of their planting project for the forecourts of the shopping parade in Pevensey Bay—Bay Life, 24, April 2016.

Two key Pevensey Bay businesses chosen as flagship fronts for start of bold regeneration plan

Following their successful planting sessions at the Pevensey Cattle Car Park last year which drew praise, from visitors and residents, as a way of adding a very welcome splash of sustainable colour and character last year, today (April 24) Incredible Edible, Pevensey and Westham, has announced plans to follow through with a series of planters in Pevensey Bay.

Amongst their plans are initial projects with two key businesses in the Bay, Boots Pharmacy and Estate Agents, Bradleys in the Bay, we understand, are to be the first recipients of the skill and craft which is soon to adorn their shop fronts.

The two key businesses have been selected as they are are on opposite sides of the the road as people walk and drive through the Bay, giving the best 360 degree impression to both residents and visitors as a taster to what is planned for the busy shopping parade in the Bay.

The sneak preview gives a fabulous take on the work that is to come.

The regeneration plan for Pevensey Bay is being financially backed by Wealden Council, The Wealden Strategic Partnership with a contribution also from Pevensey Parish Council.

The savvy seedcorn investment will aid the business profile of the locality.

The artist sketch, drawn by multi-talented Ziza Stopkova of the local design agency, Orange Cup Studio, gives a clue to the inspiration behind this first stage of the plan to regenerate the visual appeal of the Pevensey Bay shopping parade walk through, with planting that is both visually stimulating and attractive from a practical point of view.

The planters are to be bedded with attractive edible plants that are likely to become a feature of the profile of the Bay, at a time in the year when visitors on both day trips and with weekly stays, in caravan sites, camping sites and in bed and breakfast establishments, can can enjoy the new profile and benefit best from the stimulating addition to the forecourts and frontages of the eclectic mix of businesses in the heart of Pevensey Bay.

Interesting?

Congratulations to the local Incredible Edible Project and Wealden District Council for funding what is clearly going to be a growing regeneration project and welcome news to everyone that lives locally.

The work seems likely to attract further funds to the group for their inspirational take on what can be done to improve the quality of experience for people coming to see all the feature delights that we have to offer and for residents going about their daily business in the Bay and social activities, in the place they call ‘the hidden jewel in the Crown of Sussex’.

The welcome addition to the plan for the regeneration of Pevensey Bay looks likely to emerge as early as the end of this coming week with the purchase of planters for the project.
