Joseph O’Riordan, of Guardian Court, Brookside Avenue, Polegate, appeared before Brighton magistrates on Friday (24 October) charged with the attempted murder of Amanda Riordan at Guardian Court on Wednesday (22 October).
Mr O’Riordan, 73, was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday, 6 November.
Mrs O’Riordan, 47, the defendant’s wife, is at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where she remains in a critical condition.
