

FIRE BREAKS OUT ABOVE 1066 STORE IN HEART OF BAY
Bay Life is getting reports of a fire that has broken out, according to an eye witness ‘in the same flat where a fire took place a few months ago’. This picture sent in by an onlooker is the scene at 19:48 , the fire services clearly on the scene. It is understood that an ambulance is now at the scene (19:50).
Local resident Corrine Morgan, who lives close by, told Bay Life, “a Kitchen fire above the 1066 shop again . . lots of smoke 3 fire engines on the scene, first floor flat”.
She added, “I went out to look about 7:15pm, and the smoke was thick and stinking of plastic”.
“No one is hurt, I asked a fireman, the fireman said it was a kitchen fire, I said to him not long since you were here for the top floor fire… And he said . Oh yeah .. I thought I recognised the place”.
At the time she added, “he was taking the standpipe apart and shutting the valve off, I came home due to the choking smoke that plastic burning smoke is terrible and it was hanging about in the fog and smoke”.
An onlooker who took the picture of an ambulance arriving said “this is the ambulance coming and there are three fire appliances. The some flat, number 7″. She added, “everyone seems to be safe”.

Additional pictures of the scene have started to come in. These pictures taken by an onlooker, sent to Bay Life, show the scene in the flat filled with what appears to be black smoke. She told us, “apparently a popcorn maker blew up”.
The same view was expressed by another onlooker who said, “a popcorn maker made the fire”.

Questions being asked about whether road is still closed with one resident asking, “does anyone know if road is open in high street yet husband had to abandon car! As they closed it”.
A local resident summed up the feeling of the community with a comment. “Not again really hope the family are okay”.
