The news that Donald Trump, President of the United States, has bought the plans for the development of flats on the Beach Tavern site, has shocked the entire community of Pevensey Bay.—Bay Life, 1 April, 2017
In a special report dispatched from our Washington correspondent on April 1, Arthur Sixpence said he had been in conversation with sources close to the Vice President that ‘gave him every right to believe that he was not being short changed in the information that had been supplied’.
“Let us face it”, he commented, “everything that Donald Trump has said is open to question, and given the time of the year, it is particularly difficult to know today, exactly what is real and what is not real in relation to the news”.
He added “what has convinced me is the Press Briefing given by Sean Spicer yesterday (March 31), to the massed ranks of the Press from Breitbart News to Fox News, in which he said, “the President wants it to be known, that when he takes a trip on Air Force One to the Sunshine Coast every weekend, he is on business”.
Our Washington correspondent said “when he talked about the Sunshine Coast and business, that for me was the clue about his interests here in Pevensey Bay”.
He added “Sean Spicer talked also about tall storeys in relation to the President. That for me was the clincher. I know his spelling is not very good, but when I saw the briefing paper after the conference, I am sure as I can be that the reference to tall storeys was about the planned build here in Pevensey Bay”.
Rumours that his business activities had ceased seem to have been scotched by the news that he is to invite the Queen to play a round of golf with him at the Trump International Golf Links in Balmedie, Aberdeen, when he arrives in the country later in the year.
Rumours have circulated also for some time amongst Whitehouse senior staff that Donald Trump has bet that Prince Harry will become the Duke of Sussex and that he has been looking for a Sussex base that will further impress the Royal family.
Analysts are not sure whether it was the ‘high-end build’ reference by the architect responsible for the Beach Tavern site plans that convinced Donald Trump to buy the site, or whether it was the uncanny resemblance of Trump Towers to the planned development here in Pevensey Bay that caught the attention of the master deal maker and President of the United States.
One commentator suggested, “it would not surprise me at all if he gives it a lick of gold paint, puts a lift right down that middle shaft and as well as inviting Nigel Farage to shake hands with him at the bottom of the lift, also invites Prince Harry, when he is appointed the Duke of Sussex, to come and shake bis hand as well, here in Pevensey Bay”.
Our Washington correspondent also related information about an overheard conversation and rehearsal for a speech Donald Trump is to give here in Sussex, in which he was heard to say ‘and as for that wall in front of the Beach Tavern, we are going to build that wall and we are going to make the people of Rossetti Road pay for it”.
