A regular reader of Bay Life, Jane Ranger, this evening (March 14) documented a white flash and loud bang in Normans Bay.—Bay Life 14 March 2017
Jane Ranger explained that at 9pm, in west Norman’s Bay, there was “a white flash and extremely loud bang, not a flare, felt it through the house, brought all the neighbours out”.
She suggested, “If anyone finds out what it was we’d love to know!”
Jane added that a quick check had been done on “outdoor gas bottles and the pumping station”, and that a quick look on beach, did not reveal anything.
Normans Bay resident, Jane Hook, also heard the sound, commenting, “Yes it was soo loud we felt it in our house, what was it ? Local business owner at D2 Projects, Gareth Morris, said, “Yes see I’m not going mad”. as he concurred with what had been said to friends online.
The bang was also been heard further afield than Normans Bay.
Karla Bellchambers who lives in Pevensey Bay said, “we heard it Pevensey Bay. Whatever it was it was extremely loud”.
Later Jane Ranger commented, “someone just suggested the re-entry of a bit of space junk…”.to which Normans Bay resident, Matt Castle added, “yes I was thinking along those lines…”
Bay Life is investigating any reports to Police or other services with regard to what has been seen and heard in Normans Bay this evening.
News of anything happening or explanation appears not to have reached any other local news outlets online this evening (10:05pm), although this situation might change.
UPDATE: 15 March
Was what was seen and heard perhaps a meteor breaking up? This account from March 1 in the Independent above Aberdeen in Scotland (with both the flash and the bang) bears a small similarity does it not to some of the descriptions being given about what happened last night? ~Simon, editor Bay Life
