The sad news has come to us today (7 November) from the owner of the new Pre-school in Pevensey that the educational facility is to close on 18 December.

We hope to be able to bring a full statement from the owner tomorrow (November 8). Writing to the Peveney Bay Journal, owner, Nick Porter, said that the decision had been taken “with huge regret and great sadness”.

Nick and his experienced team have contributed much this year by stepping into the void left by the sudden closure, without notice, of the previous pre-school endeavour.

The previous pre-school closed in January 2018, with a notice stuck on a fence outside the school that became the source of news to both staff and parents.

Nick Porter, who runs a successful pre-school in nearby brought Herstmonceux, brought skill, experience and a sound educational ethos to the endeavour in Pevensey.

In his message to the Pevensey Bay Journal he says, “this decision has not been taken lightly as we are hugely aware of the impact it has on the children and the staff”.

Full story tomorrow (November 8). We are also making contact with organisers of the Memorial Hall, Pevensey for comment.

Already comment is coming in to the Pevensey Bay Journal about the sudden closure. Ami Cane said, “please can you get the word out there that our beloved Pevensey & Westham preschool based in Pevensey memorial hall will be closed from the 18th December.

“It’s an amazing provision with a brilliant staff team, but due to shortage of funding & rental costs, it’s being closed as of the 18th December.

“We’re all so disappointed for the little ones of Pevensey & Pevensey Bay & local area, as there’s nothing else based in the heart of the Pevensey community like this, that hard working families can access.

“Really is incredibly sad and we’re all feeling rather hopeless for our little ones future”.
