The last St. Nicolas concert of 2016 to raise funds for the church’s restoration fund. With the Bishop of Chichester in attendance for the Sunday morning service beforehand we are ending ‘on a high’! Many thanks to Bay Life for all the energetic support for the programme this year—George Stephens, deputy churchwarden, St. Nicolas church, 21 November 2016

The Rt. Revd. Dr. Martin Warner, Bishop of Chichester will preach at St. Nicolas Church Pevensey on Sunday 4th December as the culmination of events marking the church’s 800th anniversary in 2016. The Sunday morning service starts at the usual time of 11:00 AM.

All are welcome to make this a very special day in the church’s life as Sunday 4th December is also the church’s Patronal Festival day when the church celebrates its birthday.

George Stephens, Deputy Churchwarden explains that “It is right that the final day of the 800th anniversary celebrations should include a festival service, on the anniversary of the date of the church’s dedication or consecration, in the name of our patron saint, St. Nicolas.”

Just as in medieval times when the church was built, there will be entertainment following the religious celebrations, provided by Vivace! a Sussex based choir who have been BBC ‘Last Choir Standing’ qualifiers.

It will be their fifth return visit to St. Nicolas, testament to their popularity and liking for St. Nicolas. ‘Vivace! is capable of singing almost any kind of music in their ‘a Capella’ style. And their concerts always contain a great mix of music, typically from Bach to the Beatles!

“It is always a pleasure to welcome back Vivace! Who give such a wide range of music in their typically enthusiastic and musical style,” adds Owen Visick former Churchwarden and Reader at St. Nicolas.

All tickets funds raised at the concert will be in aid of the Restoration Fund. Afternoon tea refreshments will be available.

Tickets for the concert are £10 and can be obtained from George Stephens: email – or telephone 01424 216651.
