BP today announced the opening of the new BP service station with M&S Simply Food at the Pevensey roundabout. The joint BP and Marks & Spencer development will offer motorists a wide range of M&S quality food alongside BP’s own Wild Bean Café drinks and hot food.—BP, 10 February 2016
To mark the opening, Barby Dashwood-Morris, Chairman of Wealden District Counci, will be cutting the ribbon at 10:30 a.m. on 10 February.
Approximately £600,000 has been spent on a complete refit of the site. The store now offers motorists the chance to fill up their shopping baskets at the same time as they fill up with BP’s high quality fuel, car parking, car wash, a toilet accessible to disabled people as well as a baby changing-room.
Paul Jackson, BP area manager said: “The new store will be open 24/7 and provide customers with a selected range of Marks & Spencer’s high quality fresh, innovative food alongside the best of BP fuels and our very own Wild Bean Café.”
BP’s Wild Bean Cafe offers quality hot and fresh food and drinks. The first customers at BP Pevensey will also receive a range of discounts and a free ‘bag for life’ to help their future shopping.
BP owns and operates more than 300 forecourts in the UK, with a further 950 BP-branded sites owned and operated by independent dealers. The first BP M&S Simply Food store was opened in 2005 at BP Hammersmith in London. There are now more than 225 in the UK.
When the news first became public about the opening, one regular Bay Life reader said, “January takes an unexpected turn for the better. Village petrol station closes tonight. When reopen it will have ta daa …… Marks and Spencer food outlet…”. The comment elicited a further thought in response “What more could you ask for, M&S on your door step”.
The news of the launch this morning (10 February) has been broadly welcomed across the local community. The development is being seen as adding a new dimension to the kinds of local service that are on offer, both to visitors and residents.
