Wealden District Council is running two events in March for anyone interested in becoming a District Councillor and representing their community.at the 2019 elections—Wealden District Council, 27 February 2018
A great chance to get involved in making the decisions that will shape the future of where you live
“With 45 seats on Wealden District Council, as well as many seats on local parish and town councils, up for election on 2 May 2019 this is a great chance to get involved in making the decisions that will shape the future of where you live” said Councillor Bob Standley, Leader of Wealden District Council. “Being a District Councillor is very rewarding and you really will be able to make a difference in your local community.”
The informal drop-in events are taking place in Hailsham on Tuesday 13 March from 6pm-9pm at the Civic Community Hall (Vicarage Lane, BN27 2AX) and in Uckfield on Saturday 17 March from 10am-1pm in the Ashdown Room of the Civic Centre (TN22 1AE). They will provide an early opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a councillor to find out more
At the events you will be able to talk to current District, Town and Parish Councillors about their work and what the roles entail and also chat to officers from Wealden District about the services that the Council provides, as well as the election process. Representatives from all the main political parties will also be attending.
The invitation is open to everyone who is interested or thinking about standing at the elections so if you ever wondered what being a Councillor was all about why not come along and find out more.
