We are very proud to start our countdown to Scarecrow 17 with the Sue Mills blog.
Resident, Sue Mills who moved to Pevensey Bay in 2015 was delighted to enter the scarecrow competition in 2016 and win an accolade. Excited and getting into gear for Scarecrow 17, she agreed to post to Bay Life, in episode form, just like a Dickens novel, the cliff hanging chapter by chapter tale of how she is preparing to create a scarecrow for 2017.
For fun, education and to join the spark of interest that is starting to fire up in and around the Bay, we present the Sue Mils Blog, the story of her preparation for Scarecrow 17.
First episode today, with a bite sized episode every day until Sunday and the final reveal.
Scarecrow 17 Eventboard on Bay Life launches on Friday 9 June. News, opinion, events, comment from residents, the Sue Mils blog and weighty questions like where to display your scarecrows and breaking news from the Pevensey Villages Partnership about what is happening where.
People get ready, because the Sue Mills blog is even now mapping out her territory as her scarecrow flies.
We are promised something special on the double page centre spread of the Journal, the independent Pevensey Bay broadsheet newspaper edition 11 coming soon. With no scarecrows yet to show, what will racherspix, our house photographers be doing to promote the show?
All racherspix will tell us is to watch this space and to look out for the 12 windows of Scarecrow 17 in the broadsheet newspaper.
Welcome Scarecrow 17.

ME AND MY SCARECROW
EPISODE 1: A pair of dark blue corduroy trousers
A friend was sorting out some things for the charity shop and seeing her put a pair of dark blue corduroy trousers into the bag it reminded me of that time of year to be hunting out things for the Scarecrow festival.
‘Do you mind if I use these?, I asked. ‘What on earth for?” she replied, “they’ll never fit you!” (true as she’s about 5.2 on tiptoes and I’m 6’3 even kneeling!) ” I want them for a scarecrow”…. silence then ” thanks! I was wearing those up until last week!!!
I googled PVP scarecrow 2017 and the search engine threw up several options but sited the date as June. Help I’d better get going. Only to go into the site later to see it was in fact July, relax but whilst the idea was still active I started to think about what the theme was.
‘Ourselves, the people of Pevensey!’ doesn’t really inspire me I’m afraid. I get the idea, but it doesn’t grab me. Fortunately the event encourages you to do something else if you want to. Last year was great with the 1066 theme, and again with the option for anything so I went with a soldier on the green and a spaceman on the Eastbourne Road, great fun.
What on earth will Sue Mills decide to do next? Tune in here for episode two of the Sue Mills blog: Me and My Scarecrow, tea time, Wednesday 7 June.
