A glorious day to launch the Bay Life Photographic Competition 2014!!!
The rules are simple. Anyone can enter up to three examples of their work, or point to examples that they think worthy of nomination.
Please ensure that you have the permission of the owner of the photographic work to nominate their image before posting to our Facebook page.
What kinds of work are accepted? The benchmark is anything with an identifiable local link, it could be scenes, people or something close up, like a bolt on a groyne.
Last year we had an excellent selection of nominations and a fantastically hard fought competition, right up the the final 48 hours… with over 500 votes cast!!!!
As with last year we will make a series of pages here on the Bay Life platform that will describe the artwork seen, and name of the author, with a box where people can put their tick.
As with last year also, we will whittle the entries down to the top ten and set a closing date for people to enter, and as with last year, the winning author will receive a book token from Waterstone’s to the value of £20.
This year, for the first time we are asking people to post possible nominations to our Facebook page initially, where you will see up to 100 entries appearing, before we transfer the top ten to our homepage here.
Enjoy the competition and celebrate the quality of work that local photographers create.
It is a rich mix, with of course a picture perfect local landscape that is framed ready for a walk on the beach at sunset. For many people (us included) this is about as good as it gets.
If you are mad about the Bay and want to see your work that has captured the unique spirit of our locality entered into the competition this year, then simply post to our Facebook page with a description of when and where the photography was taken and we will do the rest.
The Bay Life Photographic competition 2014 now open.
Entries procedure now open (May 18). Nominations remain open until June 18. Competition voting then begins for a month, with the eventual winner announced on July 18.
