Flooding is possible – be prepared
Saturday evening’s tide (7.67 m Chart Datum at 23:45 28/09/2019) will generate minor impacts at high water (Herbrand Walk, beach top properties).
Sunday afternoon’s tide at 12:15 on 29/09/2019 will be higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 6 winds. The weather increases tide table values Sunday by 0.2 m (surge), giving a forecast tide of 8.01 m CD (4.36 mAOD) at Eastbourne.
For two hours either side of Sunday’s high tide, Herbrand Walk may flood, potentially becoming impassable. Beach top properties along Pevensey Bay are likely to be affected by spray in the strong winds.
Tides are forecast to be of a similar height and generate similar impacts until Wednesday (2/10/2019), with Tuesday lunchtime’s tide higher than Sunday’s by 10cm and the highest in the set. PCDL will maintain the beach over low tides. Please plan driving routes to avoid driving through flood water at high tide. We will update this message by 16:00 on 29/09/2019.
