Action in Rural Sussex, 23 November 2018

Description
Rural communities across East Sussex are full of small businesses and enterprises many run by a single person, often from home or a small business facility.

Running a business or developing an idea into a business can be challenging, particularly when doing so on your own. Complying with regulations and rules can be overwhelming and scary, and many businesses aren’t sustainable or don’t grow as their owners wish, often because identifying and accessing cost-effective support is seen as difficult, expensive or not a valuable use of their time.

This event is part of a new initiative which seeks to provide an informal forum for local people to come together and explore both specific and general business issues, but also to hear about the wide range of FREE business support on offer to assist them in growing their business and running it effectively.

About Action in Rural Sussex
AirS is an independent charity that exists for all people living in rural areas of Sussex but especially those who are at risk of isolation and/or disadvantage, and for whom rural life brings an additional challenge and cost to their daily lives.

Established in 1931, we are staffed by a highly experienced and dedicated team who are committed to helping people overcome the challenges caused by their rural location. Our vision is for a thriving, economically active rural Sussex full of choice and opportunities for everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

Part of the ACRE network of rural community councils, our work is funded by members’ subscriptions, donations and legacies. In addition, some of our services receive grant funding from trusts, foundations and the public sector.

Action in rural Sussex has three operational aims:

1. To reduce the incidence and impact of disadvantage and poverty on people living in rural areas.

2. To increase the capacity of rural communities to manage change for the benefit of all their members.

3. To inform and amplify the voice of rural communities to influence public policy.
