COMMUNITY The Haven Players, Stone Cross: Summer Panto! – The Pied Piper of Hamelin

JOBSBOARD Part time staff, Royal Oak and Castle Inn, Pevensey

The Castle INN weekender has become a classic of some description in Pevensey Bay.—Bay Life, 11 July 2018

Family fun weekend, as good as it gets

Founded by previous landlords Andy and Linda, and built over five years, the event is billed as a family fun weekend with music, with money raised going to St. St. Wilfrid’s Hospice.

New landlords, Daina and Paul have built on the the reputation of the event

Of course if we get some blistering weather this year, the event will be a blockbuster.

With or without blistering weather, the weekend is highly recommended with a lot going on for all the family. The food is great, with extra treats straight from the serving hatch into the oustide area, and this year, with the back garden now all kited out with Castle Inn distinct decoration and extra seating, we could well be in for the best year yet with these annual weekenders.

This year we are promised all the way from Friday to the Sunday, music from favourites like Fat Belly Jones, Big Blue Stu and Inner Soul Collective, through to something new this year, the intriguingly titled Acting Moon Circus formed in Eastbourne, by actor Renato Pires.

Since studying for his degree in Circus, Performing Arts and Drama at the Chapito Circus School in Lisbon, Renato has appeared in or directed several theatre, circus and television productions in both the UK and Portugal.

He established Acting Moon Events as an entertainment agency and event production company based in Eastbourne.

As family community events go in public house settings in the locality, this is about as good as it gets. Fum. yes, most certainly, donations by the buckeload to a very worthy local charity, and the mix of people and laughter and those burgers and hot dogs and music favourites makes for a  memorable local weekend. Perhaps one of our very best community events in our local seasonal calendar.
