
A BIG thank you to everyone who supported the second Art, Crafts & Photographs Exhibition held on Saturday 26 August. The doors opened at 10am on a bright sunny morning in Pevensey Bay with people waiting to enter the church hall where over 20 exhibitors had set up their displays.—Rachers on Canvas, 19 September 2017
Second annual exhibition raises profile of arts and crafts movement in Pevensey Bay
Officially opened at 10.30am by TV antiques expert James Braxton, the exhibition was well attended throughout the day and visitors had the opportunity to see a number of demonstrations including lino cutting, embossing in pewter, pastel painting and paper flower crafting. The “Jeanne Gamson Award” was presented to Di Jones for her picture of a cat which Jeanne’s family chose as their favourite exhibit.
The event finished with the draw of raffle tickets where people won prizes including original artwork, food & wine hamper, dining out vouchers and art & craft materials. A gallery of photographs taken on the day can be viewed at rachersoncanvas.co.uk/acap-2017
With money from sale of artwork, refreshments, art materials and books, raffle tickets and donations the fundraiser raised £1,028 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Eastbourne.
The exhibition also saw the launch of a new ART JOURNAL. It’s aim is to promote the visual arts in and around Pevensey Bay. With many art groups, artists, crafters, photographers, camera clubs, and galleries in the area the journal will be reporting on their exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, open studios and other events. It will also include wider art issues, reviews and interviews.
