grants

Does your sports club, society or community facility need a helping hand? There is still time to apply for a Community Grant from Wealden District Council to buy new equipment for next year or carry out much-needed repairs to your village hall.—Wealden District Council, 4 November 2016

This year Wealden District Council gave out £23,000 through its Small Grants Scheme and £76,000 through its Capital Grants Scheme to help 41 community organisations. Could yours be one next year?

“This money can make a real difference to what your organisation is hoping to achieve, not just next year, but for many years to come,” said Councillor Claire Dowling, Cabinet member for Public Health and Community Safety. “New activities, a brighter venue or an improved outdoor play area or park can attract new membership and greater involvement, helping to keep our communities strong and together.”

The closing date for grant applications is Wednesday 30 November.

The Small Grant Scheme provides between £500 – £3,000 to fund a range of projects, and can be linked to the core costs of running activities, or used to support new projects including funding equipment, training, special repairs and events. We can also fund projects with an environmental or energy-saving benefit.

The money for successful projects should be spent during the 2017/18 financial year.

Further information about the application process can be found on the Wealden website at: http://www.wealden.gov.uk/Wealden/Residents/Community_and_Safety/Grant_Funding/PHCS_Funding_Programme.aspx.

Feedback on draft application forms submitted and received by 15 November to help to strengthen a final submission will be given, although it cannot guarantee success. Further questions can also be answered by contacting funding support officer, Michelle Gray.

A full list of organisations we have supported this year can be found by searching for grant funding on the Council’s website:http://www.wealden.gov.uk/Wealden/Residents/Community_and_Safety/Grant_Funding/PHCS_Wealden_Community_Grants_Awarded_this_Financial_Year.aspx
