Comment is starting to come in with regard to another huge development planned for Westham, with a number of local residents expressing concern.

Christopher Eadon, who lives and works in Westham said, “Just when you thought that there couldn’t possibly be any more development”.

He points people to the website by ‘Gladman Developments’ which describes what is proposed. “Gladman Developments is proposing a new residential of approximately 142 new homes plus public open space with recreational facilities on land at Eastbourne Road, Westham. A public consultation leaflet was distributed in mid June 2018 to approximately 390 households and businesses in Westham.”

The website also states, “A series of consultation boards are available to view on this website. The boards provide outline details of the scheme and will seek comments from the local community on our current proposals”.

Presumably the comment by Christopher Eadon has got lost somewhere between the pillar and the post. Would Gladman like to tell us what local people are really saying in their comments?

Local resident Natasha Noll told Bay Life today (25 June) “It’s madness to think our village can have over 300 new homes, especially as it’s supposed to be a conservation area and the roads are already over run”.

She added, “it will be chaos with the estate coming out on to the road right next to the railway line too, let alone how the school and doctors surgery would cope?.

“I think it definitely needs to be known to as many people as possible especially in Westham as it’s going to have huge impact”.

Bay Life is to publish comment received from concerned residents as we receive that comment.

You can contact Bay Life here with your comments.
