GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA
Congress Theatre
Sunday 13 July, 3pm

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is on the road again and Ray McVay, Musical Director of the original BBC Come Dancing series, returns to the Congress Theatre on Sunday 13 July, with the ever popular Big Band sound

This visit is especially poignant as 2014 marks the 70th anniversary of Glenn Miller’s all-too-short stay in the UK. He came to Britain in July 1944 to support the troops and left later that same year to travel to Paris, but tragically the plane never reached France.

Ray McVay, a passionate lover of Glenn’s sound, first approached the offices of the Glenn Miller estate in 1988 seeking an arrangement to operate an orchestra in the UK and 25 years on the orchestra is still delighting Big Band fans around the world, from Europe to Asia and South America.

The show features the fabulous harmonies of the Moonlight Serenaders, the sublime vocals of Catherine Sykes and Colin Anthony with the swinging jazz band, The Uptown Hall Gang.

Songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Louis Armstrong are all featured in a show, which also pays tribute to other big band leaders of the era such as Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman, along with the best loved Miller hits Pennsylvania 65000, Tuxedo Junction, Moonlight Serenade, Chattanooga Choo Choo and the iconic In the Mood.

Don’t miss this special concert by The Glenn Miller Orchestra, led by Ray McVay and featuring the Glenn Miller Orchestra at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne on Sunday 13 July, 3pm. Tickets from £18.50 are available from the Box office on 01323 412000 or book online at www.eastbournetheatres.co.uk
